Our current Bylaws are outdated and in need of numerous amendments. All Fire departments are required to have contracts with the county in which they operate. Our current Bylaws were amended in 1986 and numerous laws, General Statutes, employment laws, County contracts etc. have changed so much over the years that they are no longer in compliance.
Buncombe County reviewed our current Bylaws and sent us this letter. We must bring our Bylaws into compliance by June 30, 2017. If we fail to take the corrective actions for such compliance, then the county reserves the right to take measures necessary to cause the citizens of the Fairview Fire Protection & Ambulance and Rescue Service District to be served by an open an transparent provider.
We do not want this to happen. This is why we must amend the current Bylaws.
